This Thunderbolt™ 3 to 4x M.2 PCIe SSD enclosure enables you to turn four M-Key PCI-Express based M.2 NVMe or AHCI solid state drives (SSDs) into a high-performance external storage solution.

The SSD enclosure is self-powered with an included 72W EPS power supply that powers the enclosure, the connected drives, and provides up to 15W of power to any downstream Thunderbolt 3 devices. A 2.3 ft. (70 cm) Thunderbolt 3 Certified host cable is also included, to connect the enclosure to your computer.

High Performance M.2 Storage via 40Gbps Thunderbolt 3

The enclosure is compatible with 80mm M.2 PCIe based (M-Key) single/double-sided SSDs. Create an external storage solution that utilizes the high-performance bandwidth available to your Thunderbolt 3 port, providing combined data transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps for up to four drives. The vented metal enclosure features thermal pads and a cooling fan to ensure your SSDs are operating at optimal temperatures.

Dedicated 8Gbps Throughput for Each Individual Drive

A single 8 Gbps PCIe lane is dedicated to each connected drive. This ensures consistent read/write performance across the entire enclosure, regardless of individual drive activity. The enclosure also supports software RAID with storage management systems like Storage Spaces (Microsoft), RAID Assistant (macOS), or mdraid/mdadm (Linux). The support for software RAID, combined with exceptional drive performance, makes this the ideal enclosure for creative professionals working with large files such as high-resolution graphics, video, and CAD files.

Thunderbolt Certified

This enclosure is Thunderbolt Certified to ensure an optimal user experience and compatibility when connected to a Thunderbolt 3 host device, such as a MacBook Pro 16, 13, Air, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon / T Series, Dell XPS / Latitude / Precision or HP EliteBook. The external drive enclosure is also forward compatible with Thunderbolt 4 devices (at Thunderbolt 3 performance).

Additional Ports for Workspace Flexibility

The enclosure features a DisplayPort output port, enabling you to connect a DisplayPort monitor to your computer through the Thunderbolt 3 enclosure, with resolutions up to 4K 60Hz. The enclosure also features a downstream Thunderbolt 3 port for daisy chaining an additional TB3 device or connect an additional TB3 compatible display (up to 5K 60Hz).

• This device is not compatible with SATA based (B-Keyed or M+B Keyed) M.2 solid state drives.
• This device does not support Thunderbolt 2 or Thunderbolt 1 host devices using interface adapters.

• Connected downstream devices share bandwidth with connected SSDs and may reduce overall data transfer performance when connected.
• Apple Mac computers with M1 processors can only support one external display connected through the SSD enclosure. However, Apple Mac computers with Intel or M1 Max / Pro processors can support dual external displays connected through the SSD enclosure.

Move the DIP switches to corresponding positions for your ideal RAID mode: Individual, JBOD, RAID 0, RAID 1/10 or RAID 5. You can also configure the RAID settings from your QNAP NAS, or by using the QNAP External RAID Manager utility on your computer.

Scenario 1: Expand the capacity of your NAS

The TR-004 supports a variety of QNAP NAS storage and file management functions, allowing users to build storage pools, find files with Qsirch and organize files with Qfiling.

Use the TR-004 as an alternative to conventional NAS expansion enclosures
As an external hardware RAID device, the TR-004 operates independently and does not require additional NAS system resources. When compared with the UX-500P expansion enclosure, the TR-004 uses less NAS system resources.

Scenario 2: External storage for your NAS
Instead of using the TR-004 to expand the capacity of your QNAP NAS, you can use it as a complimentary storage unit for backing up or moving data. It also allows you to physically migrate huge data collections that would require significant network bandwidth. While connected to the NAS, you can monitor the health and status of the TR-004 by using the Storage & Snapshots Manager on the NAS.

Scenario 3: Expand the storage space of your computer
The TR-004 can quickly add storage space to your computer. You can use the DIP switch to configure a hardware RAID mode or manage it by using the QNAP External RAID Manager utility. The health and status of the TR-004 can also be monitored by using the QNAP External RAID Manager utility.

Scenario 4: Cross-platform file sharing
From your NAS to Windows, Mac, and Linux computers, the TR-004 is compatible with a wide range of devices. This makes it ideal for quickly moving large files between different devices. Use TL-D800C as a high-capacity disk drive reader by setting up single disk mode

You can treat each disk in your TL-D800C as an individual storage space, and also use it as a removable drive. It can function like a high-capacity disk drive reader. When one of disk reaches data storage limitation, you can remove it and put it into a dry box. Then swap a different disk into theTL-D800C empty drive slot. After that, you can install the disk that reached full data capacity into the TL-D800C and connect it with a NAS for direct file access.

TL-R400S Rackmount JBOD storage enclosure allows you to back up and expand your QNAP NAS, Windows and Ubuntu computers and servers. The TL-R400S features four 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s drive bays, the shallow rack design is perfect for installing the TL-R400S in a compact rack, or in areas with a lot of cabling.
